JEAN DeLONG CUSTER– I worked in media in the 1980’s with Irwin Gotlieb and Rino Scanzoni and for Phil Guarascio and Rich Hamilton. Went over to the client side some years ago and am now Co-op Advertising Manager at Case New Holland in New Holland, PA. Am glad to find all of them listed on this website.

WEB WHIZ DESIGNS B&B SITE, HEARS COMMENTS, HEADS FOR THE  WOODS Dale Puckett, who served Benton & Bowles even after they stopped paying him, has moved to downtown Days Ferry, Maine. The population is now at least two. Puckett, an award-winning art director from 1972 to 1981, continued to do yeoman service for the agency by designing and maintaining this B&B website. The hours were many, the help scant and the pay zero, but Dale labored until this site was up and running. Then he kept it running for three years. Now, Dale and his wife Irma, have moved to Days Ferry (Goose Cove), Maine, a sight that will flabbergast you if you visit Http://WWW.464RR.COM. 909 Third Avenue it ain’t. We thank you Dale. Your skills, patience and spirit are the very reasons B&B Alumni has moved so far, so fast.
Marty Klar I was a copywriter at B&B from '79-'81.  Worked with Tony Antonios and Guy Migliaccio.  Was in Greg Weinshanker's group, and then Charlie Jackson's.  Left with Guy to go work with Don Resnick (former B&B'er) at Grey.  That lasted one year.  Moved to LA in '82 to work on 3M package goods biz at DFS.  That quickly turned into a gig on Toyota regional retail, which evolved into a CD spot on Toyota national, and of course DFS became Saatchi.  Moved to Grand Rapids, MI in '96 for some regional Chevy business AND A MUCH BETTER QUALITY OF LIFE.  Went freelance in'99.  Now on staff for TCAA (New England Toyota Dealer biz) in Dedham, MA, but I work from my home in Grand Rapids.  Great memories from my short stay at B&B.  Candy Greathouse, Greg, Tony, where are you?  Still in touch with Vicky Amon and through her Guy Migliaccio and I have reconnected.  Married to an art director I met in NY at McCaffrey & McCall.  We have one very artistic daughter, and thank goodness because as we all know, everyone can write! Dick Anderson's daughter Dick Anderson’s (1952-1969) daughter, Lise, has written a memoir of her father’s time in the ad biz, and has been hunting for an agent and/or publisher. Dick was Co-Creative Director with Mitch Epstein in 1968-1969. He died in 1974. Lise gets our Reunion announcements from Sid Lerner, and hopes to attend one of these days. Meanwhile, she works on a Pregnancy Research project for the NIH at Womens Hospital at the Univ. of Michigan. Jim Phox When Jim attended the Reunion in 2004, he brought along this photo from 1976, thinking folks might not recognize him. Back then he had lots of hair, which is not the case now. He is currently a SVP/ Senior Producer in San Francisco @ FCB. Milt Lowe Copywriter, 1974-1981 I recently got married to a wonderful woman I met years ago in a psychology course at The New School.  I've also written and published a book about an earthy cavewoman who keeps a diary of all the Neanderthals she dates.  The premise:  men are still making the same mistakes with women they made a million years ago. Boris Esterkis Copywriter, 1967-1975 I'm proud to say, I was there when, in my opinon, B&B was at it's best...1967-1975.  I was living in Greenwich Village for the first five of those wonderful years and in Riverdale for the next three.  N.W.Ayer had me from'77 to '91.  I met my wife there, so it was well worth it. I've been living in San Diego since '99...how nice it i to be warm, most of the year. I now write anything I like: Essays, articles as well as a book compiled from short stories.  Life is good My wife, Lynn Jacobs and I are about to move to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where I plan to return to my first love, painting and sculpting. Hal Goodtree  Producer, 1981-1994 I moved to North Carolina almost 6 years ago and have two daughters, ages 10 (Jill) and 5 (Emma). Although I still do the occasional agency gig, I crossed over to the production side about two years ago. I'm currently the Executive Producer at This Is TV in New York. My partner is B&B alumnus Conrad Fink (now a director). If recently got my DGA card as a 1st AD. I joined B&B in 1981 as a receptionist and moved into the TV Production Department in 1982. I left the agency in 1994 as a producer. >From '94-2002 I freelanced at Saatchi, Bozell, JWT, Martin and the NFL, among others.  I won an Emmy in 1996 and a Cannes Lion in 2002. Michele Gilbert-Rotman Media, 1980-1986 Now Managing Director at Leo Burnett, Paris. Lisa Vales (Scamoni) Research, 1979-1986 Chris Vales Market Research, 1979-1986 Chris Vales worked for Secondary Market Research and I Lisa Vales (then Scamoni) worked as an administrative assistant to Ruth Chester. We met at B&B in  research, married in 1986 and are still together happily married with two children.  Chris works for Hoffman LaRoche as a Brand Director and I work in the school system as teacher's aide to autistic children.  Please feel free to contact us Tom Carey Last position: Managing Director, 1967 - 1990 I have retired from Omnicom, as of December 23 and am looking forward to the next chapter in our lives with our children and grandchildren. . Meredith Stern Storyboard Girl, Assistant Art Director, Art Director 1969-1978 B&B was my first job out of college and boy was I dazzled! I stayed on the agency side of the biz as Art Director/ Creative Director at two different agencies until 1985. Then I started my own Comp Art Studio, ART DIRECTOR’S STUDIO. For the next 10 years my team of 25 artists, 3 reps and I had lots of  fun drawing Comps, Storyboards and Animatic Art for many agencies in NYC. In 1997 I had a career opportunity in Los Angeles. I’m selling, designing and manufacturing promotional products and fashion accessories for give-a-way and resale for a firm in Santa Monica and I’ve never looked back. Nothing like going to work with the top down, in flip-flops and sunglasses every day! Joan Uttal Anderson I left Benton & Bowles in 1978 to start my own business teaching television and radio performers on/camera and voice/over technique. In addition to teaching, I also supervise production of weekly Jazz concerts at Saint Peter's Church, created 22 years ago by my late husband, Edmund Anderson. I also promote performances of Edmund's songs (Flamingo - Is it Raining In New York? - Thank You For Everything - The Olive Tree, etc.). I commute between my Manhattan apartment and my house in the Hamptons. Joe Martino Hired by Phil Guarascio and spent 3 years at B&B media (1975-78). After a stop at NW Ayer, spent much of the next 25 years at Grey/MediaCom (Group Media Director), excepting a temporary detour to Hill, Holiday for a few years. Working as independent consultant since 2005, mostly for a mobile start-up company called Zoove, based in Montain View, California		Bob Neidhardt We are retired to a house on Candlewood Lake where I have a small sailboat which I'm in whenever the weather is clear and windy. (Not too many of those days though this summer.) Roy Eaton Music Director, 1959-1982 While overcoming multiple medical challenges (Artificial left hip and right knee, heart stent, and an auto accident!), I still managed to make 2003-4 an amazingly productive period. A return to Carnegie Hall as soloist with the NY Pops; a 92nd St.Y engagement; re-release of my JOPLIN album on SONY Classical; a new release “24/7+7 The Complete preludes of Chopin, Gershwin & William Grant Still” on SUMMIT; and to cap it all - my wife Barbara gave birth to twin boys Ravi& Ari !!. Ric Kallaher  Music Producer, 1981-1983 On Jan 6th, I completed a photo shoot for FCB Healthcare & their client Medisense.  It's quite a coup for me and is, I think, a special example of the ongoing B&B connections.  As you may or may not recall I headed Music Production in my day at B&B('81-83) before eventually heading off to my own music company.  Eventually, however, I  found myself following my true love: photography.  So, starting off '04 with an agency shoot is truly exciting.  And here is where the B&B connections come in.  The creative director on the business is Jeff Yates a former DMB&B Art Director who I originally met when I did music for him on Scope back in those days.  Serving as myproducer on the shoot was Nancy Horowitz, Jeff's former writing partner at DMB&B former writing partner at DMB&B and who is also none other than Gerry Weinstein's niece Larry Hampton Account Management, 1963-1968 I was an Acct Exec & Acct Super,working on (amongst others) Maxim (GF), Beech-Nut, P&G Bonus, Texaco, Philip Morris (Benson & Hedges)and working with (amongst others) Les Goldberg, Mac Morris, Tom Hooson, Chuck Beisch (with whom I am still in close contact and who told me About your web-site), Gene Shinto, Ed Hannibal, Brian Dillon, Dave Kreinik, George Simco, George Robinson,  Shelly Platt, Bob Pliskin, etc. My post B&B career has mostly been spent in Europe and mainly in the sports business (for Ocean Pacific Sunwear, New Blance, Spalding Sports, Adidas France, Carl Ally Europe, Glendinning Assoc.  I am now retired, but would be happy to help if anyone would like to get a few pointers on working in Europe Dan Haygood Currently at the University of North Carolina/ Chapel Hill finishing his doctorate. Jamie Stern Print Traffic then Cost Control, 1979-1984 B&B will always have a place in my heart because I met my two best friends there. I left B&B for an Art Buying position at Backer & Spielvogel and was promoted to Manager then became a Vice President. Backer & Spielvogel became Backer, Spielvogel, Bates which became Bates USA and 141 Worldwide which was purchased by WPP. Whew! You have got to love this business! So yes, I have experienced it all and am happy to say that I survived. I am currently Vice President Director of Art Production at 141 Worldwide and am Chairman of the AAAA Art Services Committee. Jerry Dyson Account Management 1979-1983.  I sold my software company (Fall 2005) and now have what my wife, Patti, calls my "retirement career". I got my real estate license in Illinois and am now buying and selling property, primarily in the Lincoln Park area of Chicago. Son Matt (22) is getting his masters in international relations at St. Andrews University in Scotland and daughter, organ (19) is a freshman at Berkeley. There were many wonderful people and I think some good work, also. I live in Maine now and work at developing low income housing through private and public sector partnership programs in several states. . Arthur Kover 1972-1974 I was at B&B for only one rapturous year. I had left the business and became a professor at Fordham. Now I'm finishing a 4-year appointment as a management fellow at the Yale School of magement. It looks as if I will really be retired next year. Margaret Lord ( a college roomate of Trish Tidwell, an AE at B&B) and I married about 14 years ago. We have two children: Amy, a writer, and Ezra, now in law school. Anna Suessbrick Account Mangement/1986-1988 I started at DMB&B right after college and worked on MCI, A&D and P&G. Two years later I moved to J. Walter Thompson and 7 years later I left advertising. Completed my Ph.D. in clinical sychology at the New School and now I'm in private practice in Portland, Oregon. My agency colleagues were right: a career in advertising was the perfect springboard for clinical practice! Larry Miller Assistant Media Director & Account Executive/1967-1970 After leaving B&B, I moved to LA to join Mattel. Since then I've run a few media buying services, worked in marketing for Six Flags & E&J Gallo, ran a commercial RE planning firm, participated in several silicon valley start-ups and founded Triad Development in 1984. From 1987 to date I've focused on the development of media buying, selling or planning software systems for advertisers, agencies and broadcasters. Marina Del Rey is home but I'm in NYC at least once a month. Allen Adamson I worked on P&G, GF and Mars during my years at B&B. Have been at Landor Associates more than 12 years now. "To those of you who worked with us and knew us as 'Bernie & Walter,' I feel that I lost part of myself now that Walter's gone.  We were a creative team for over 20 years.  Two shy art directors who wrote our own copy, were our own assistants, as well as our own supervisors. Somehow we managed to do it all and have fun too.  We both used to laugh when we'd get interoffice memos and stuff addressed to 'Bernie & Walter' with no last names.  They knew where to deliver it. We were both very fortunate to have met and worked with many wonderful people over the years, and almost every time we spoke we would talk about many of the great people we worked with and laugh at the 'Bernie & Walter' stories. My favorite (and Walter's too) was one that shows how close we were.  We were on a conference call in our office at B&B with a P&G client.  I was on my phone, Walter was on his phone, and Steve Davis, the account exec, was on the third phone.  At one point, I sneezed into the phone.  The client on the other end said 'God bless you!' and without missing a beat, Walter said 'Thank you!'  We all burst into laughter when Steve told the client what had just happened.  Just the other day, Steve reminded me that the P&G client was George Hoefer, who eventually becazme one of the partners in the advertising agency that lured us away from B&B.
